Newlyweds, couples or singles may prefer the adults-only cruises. Child-free cruises are quite a rarity, but Thomson and P&O are catering for the needs of those who look for only grownup’s company.

The Calypso, Thomson Cruise Fleet adults-only ship, requires passengers be at least sixteen years old. Except well known and liked locations in Mediterranean, the Calypso heads also to more unusual places you might not have been to before, like Sevastopol in Crimea.

P&O Cruises have two child-free ships; the Artemis, and the Arcadia. Both ships’ passengers have to be at least eighteen years old. The itineraries cover Caribbean, Mediterranean, Norwegian Fjords, Baltic and many other areas.

Although there are just three adults-only cruise ships, many cruise lines offer exclusive adults-only areas.

Princess plans to add quiet, adults-only deck areas to its entire fleet of ships by 2010. At the moment, ‘The Sanctuary’ facilities are available on Ruby Princess, Star Princess, Crown Princess and Emerald Princess.

Carnival Cruise Lines offer an adults-only retreat ‘Serenity’ area on board of the Sensation, the Imagination and the Inspiration.
